When we put these roses in the ground (some in 2021 and more in 2022), it was a daily struggle to keep them alive. They did not like our Oregon weather, especially the hard swing from cold-wet to hot-dry in June. They did not like our heavy clay soil. They did not like the wildfire smoke. And some of our other plants refused to respect the space we'd set aside for roses. Several roses didn't make it. But this year, they are thriving. It's been a lesson in persistence. I don't like how things are in the world right now. And I don't know if everyone I care about is going to make it through. But I, too, will persist. #LoveandPeace #Portland #Oregon
