In summer, Upper North Falls is calm, refreshingly cool, and completely approachable, but it doesn't have the jaw-dropping majesty of some of the other falls in the park. In winter, it's a torrent, spraying heavy sheets of mist up the canyon, and the trail is frequently flooded, making it difficult to photograph and to appreciate. But in mid-autumn, before the rains get really intense, this waterfall is my favorite
