I grew up thinking an oasis was something that could only be found in a desert. I had a picture of it in my mind, palm trees surrounded by oceans of sand. I must have seen it in a book. But when we visited here on a hot day in August 2021, taking the stone steps down to the water, I could feel the temperature drop, the difference in the air.
