It's strangely ironic to me that these flowers are almost completely gone from their ancient home in England and Ireland while simultaneously thriving outside their native range #Oregon #OregonExplored #ColumbiaRiverGorge #ColumbiaGorge #McCallPoint #RowenaCrest #Mosier #cornflower #BachelorButton #CentaureaCyanus

I remember tasting the root of this plant when I was in gradeschool and realizing for the very first time how many edible plants are all around us. It completely changed how I think about nature. It's harsh but also generous. So incredibly generous #Oregon #OregonExplored #WillametteMissionStatePark #WillametteRiver #QueenAnnesLace #WildCarrot #DaucusCarrota

I remember how much work my dad put into eradicating these plants wherever they grew on our property, and as a result, I was always afraid of them. But the little button flowers - bright yellow in summer - are always drawing my eye these days. My childhood fear has been replaced with respect and curiosity #Oregon #OregonExplored #Tansy #TanacetumVulgare #WillametteMissionStatePark #WillametteRiver

There are flat boards here so you can cross over the creek, and even though it's a fairly busy place on the trail, other hikers almost always wait on one side or the other so whoever's already there can get a quick picture of the falls and touch the water #Oregon #OregonExplored #ColumbiaRiverGorge #ColumbiaGorge #FairyFalls #Corbett

There are almost always small crowds of people on and around this historic wreckage, so it felt like a rare moment alone with the bones in the sand as the ocean slowly counted time in the background #Oregon #OregonExplored #FortStevens #FortStevensStatePark #Hammond #OregonCoast #PeterIredale
