I've joined up with three friends - @bockroll @michael_mirza @jrourkeiv - for the first installment of the #visotact project, an effort to stretch our perspectives and have a little fun with some images. Our assignment: #throughthelookingglass . Although the original image had a space heater visible below the window frame, I lowered the exposure and increased the fade in order to accentuate a sense of isolation, as if I were looking out on a barren, winter world, waiting.

Our assignment: #throughthelookingglass . Coastal wind gusts were pushing rain through the screened windows on this covered bridge over Highway 101, south of Rockaway Beach. I had a cup of coffee, a roof over my head, a phenomenal view of traffic headed in both directions, the ambient light of a cloud-cloaked day, and the roar of the storm. It was enough.

I backed up against the heavy doors of this small campground chapel and shot across the room and out the wall of windows, letting in light, a mound of salal and ferns and fir trees, and a glimpse of Charlotte's Mountain and the Wasco Creek watershed.

I've joined up with three friends - @bockroll @michael_mirza @jrourkeiv - for the first installment of the #visotact project, an effort to stretch our perspectives and have a little fun with some images. Our assignment: #throughthelookingglass . Sitting in a bus, waiting for students to show up, I snapped close to 100 shots through various windows. This lone tree at the edge of the parking lot with the blurred edge of the Chehalem Mountains behind it and just the slightest hint of evening light in its branches gives a sense of how it feels to live in Oregon. A place where the mundane is both burden and beauty.
