I shut down my Patreon last night. After a platform update this summer, Patreon started charging people following my account without informing them or me. The charges were for amounts ranging from one to thirty dollars, so most people didn't notice. The only way for me to turn off the feature immediately was to block each individual follower. Shutting down my account and erasing follower data (like credit card information) takes thirty days, and Patreon warned that my followers would be charged again during that period. So I issued refunds, blocked each follower, and asked Patreon to shut down my account and erase all data. In response, Patreon then sent each of my followers an email, telling them I had blocked them. Three people reached out to me personally to find out what happened. But because I shut down my account, I no longer have access to the list of people affected and am unable to apologize to all of the people who received that email from Patreon. So I'm apologizing here and on my other socials. I'm sorry that my account took your money. If you don't get a refund from Patreon, please reach out to me here or by text or email so I can make it right. I'm sorry for blocking people on Patreon and for not warning you first about what had happened and why I was taking that action. Finally, there were two people I have long supported on Patreon, creators I really believe in, people I think you should support, too. I'm going to find some other way to support Bethany Lee in her poetry, music, and loveliness as a human being. And I'm going to keep watching for Joseph Hampton's art in the Newsberg and anywhere else I can find him. @bethanyleepoet

don't read this you're too busy for poems & pictures for the beautiful and strange for soft, thick paper and the smell of good ink but if you did have time maybe you could pick up a copy of Halsey Literary Reader maybe you would find a place to lay down in the grass where you could look up at the sky and dream about a different kind of living maybe you could open to a page at random and then another and another Halsey Literary Reader the words you've been looking for rockwoodpress.com/halsey (link in bio)
