The trees appear to be drowning, but the water is shallow (albeit wide). More flooding this week. Rains should abate sometime in July.

Flood

This is what the rain was doing at Champoeg, pooling up along paths and between the trees. Not quite deep enough for traversing by canoe. But close.

Lots of trails at Champoeg Park were closed because of flooding. This sign was near the Pioneer Mothers museum.

Control

This panel controls red and yellow flashers, clearance lights, heater fans, window wipers, window washer fluid, auto chains, and auxiliary fans. It's a lot of control for one panel.

"B"

The "B" in "Bluebird," highlighted in yellow on the front of the bus. It's not a large letter, but it has personality.

Bluebird

Bluebird puts its name on a lot of American school buses. Block letters. Metallic. With a mirror and trees at Champoeg State Park, blurred in the background.

Mirror

This mirror is supposed to give the driver a view of children walking in front of the bus. Slightly distorted. But effective.

Rear Flashers

Yellow and red flashing lights on the back of the bus don't get used any more. This bus is primarily used for field trips and inter-campus shuttles.

Lug

Close-up of the lug nuts on a wheel of the C.S. Lewis Academy school bus. It was raining pretty hard. I was bored.

Reflector

It's a reflector on the back of the same bus. I liked the color contrast.

Turn Signal

Turn signal on the C.S. Lewis Academy bus. It was parked in the lot closest to the Pioneer Mothers cabin at Champoeg State Park.

Curtains

A fold of gingham fabric sits on top of the side-porch window at the top of the basement stairs. It's been there since I moved in (probably for years before that), and I never really thought about how out of place it is until I took this photo. Who put it there? Why only that window? I may never know.

Utility

The basement utility room has a makeshift dryer vent through one of the panes of an old window there. Next to the washer and dryer is a sump pump, fighting the groundwater that rises every time we get a hard rain.

Latched

This old-school window latch holds closed the west-facing window at the end of the upstairs hall. Next to the bathroom. There's a light shimmer of condensation and the latch's reflection.

Cloud Screen

I focused in on the lightly-warped window screen in the upstairs, north-facing, guest bedroom. Behind it, a cloud and a rare spot of blue sky.

Window

Window in my room. Looking out from the side, the window frame comes into focus while the chimney on the house's south side is just out of focus. Also, the street.

Chips

Broccoli Bowl

Muffins

Made a pile of more than 150 whole-wheat muffins. Let them cool before dipping each in melted butter and a cinnamon-sugar mix.

Pine Apples

Top of a fresh pineapple gives perspective on a stack of apples in Costco containers.

Temp

Old dishwasher at Metolius has bold temperature gauges on the front. Takes more than half an hour for the machine to heat up to the point that it's OK to start the dishes. Lots of heat.

Washer Machine

The dishwasher at Metolius Friends is an older counter-top machine. It's a tall, steel cylinder, mounted on the kitchen's far counter, with a toggle switch for each load.

Waiting

A pile of dishes waits on the counter as J.J. works the dishwasher at Midwinter High School Retreat. Metolius.
